My daughter (5) colors and draws alot. Most of time she draw stuff for me and my hubby. I have kept 99.9% of her "art work"

It is pillin up fast, so my question is do you keep everything? Just pick "special" stuff?

  1. Haha!  I'd be buried if I kept everything.  I keep it all for a while, and then when they are not looking I get rid of some of it.  It does break my heart, but I really can't keep it all.  I do keep a few of the special ones.  I have one thing my seven year old made.  I was having one of my "I am such a bad mom" moments.  I never said anything to the kids about this, of course.  Then next day, my son came home from school with a drawing for "The best mom in the world."  LOL.  I'm never getting rid of that one!

  2. I have all the keepers. There were simply too many to keep all of them.

There is a great website.....artstonia. You can have your child's artwork put on note cards, coffee cups, tees, key chains, etc.........fun!

  3. Just one or two pieces i don't like clutter and  really what i am going to do with it.  Keep it in a huge box to look at years from now and have like three peices a day that is way to much.  Just a few things

  4. Heck no.

I have a box of the really special things and I have picture frames that I use to showcase their art and can switch things around with new work.  (I HATE things on the fridge)

But, with two kids and one on the way I'd be swimming in paper if I saved everything.

  5. I use to try, but I gave up. I'm too much of a freak about clutter. I have a special box and things that really *strike* me - I keep. I date them on the back and put which ever daughters name. They love going through those boxes and picking out *special* things from a couple years ago. The boxes are maybe 14 inches long and 16 inches deep. That's how little I keep. LOL

  6. I usually pick one or two of the best pieces that represent their age groups and toss the rest. I keep everything in a big drawer and clean it out every summer when they're at grandmas.

  7. I tried to keep all of my twin's artwork/school work but it piles up fast. Now I just pick out those that are made for special occasions or that are execeptional. You don't have to feel bad about chucking the rest of the stuff, years from now when your kids see that you still have some of their artwork tucked away in a safe place they will feel really special. Just don't chuck their artwork in front of them.

  8. ha i can understand that you feel the need to keep everything your precious daughter draws...but shes only 5 and you already say you have soo much. Id say pick things that really mean ALOT to you for whatever reason and get them nicely framed...that way they arent just taking up floor space somewhere and you can keep them from getting ruined. then get a box and just keep other art work that barely made the cut. then its almost...sadly necessary to throw some out. your daughter really isnt going to know that you threw it out.

ha trust me theres going to be SOOO much more artwork throughout the years your never going to be able to keep it all.

  9. lol..I was just going through this yesterday...I was cleaning out her kindergarten stuff to make room for 1st grade..and everytime I went to throw something out I felt really bad..so I actually didnt throw anything away. What I actually did was bought a tote and put everything in there.

  10. I pick special stuff. It's unrealistic to think you will be able to keep everything your children give you over the course of their lives.

I do the scrap book think. I keep everything that tells a story and then I scrapbook it with captions that tell the stroy.

  11. I used to but with 7 kids, there is no way!  I keep a few from each month (or season, as they get older some don't want to do as much).  I always write on the back how old they were and what they say the picture is.

  12. I keep everything!!! I don't have the heart to throw it away.  A friend of mine uses the "artwork" in thank you notes for holiday gifts or in cards she sends!
