Question:

Do you keep a Dream Diary?

I started a few months ago after reading an article about it. It's quite interesting. Many people think they don't dream every night. I thought this too but now I realize I was just forgetting the dream within minutes of waking or that I had even dreamed at all. Now I have a diary of hundreds of dreams over the past 4-5 months. I have to write them down within a minute or two of waking or they evaporate. It's kind of interesting though and patterns start to emerge after a while.

  1. no

  2. no but i wish i did...i would probably spend all day writing out the crazy stuff with every detail

  3. I think that's a great idea as some of my dreams actually come true. Thanks for the idea. You rock.

  4. I have one too. Usually my dreams are pretty nuts and dont make much sense. However Ive noticed 2 particular symbols that keep pooping up together. I also have a little dream encyclopedia. Its great because it help you decipher what your dreams mean and what your subconscience is still thinking about when your asleep.

  5. I kept a log of my dreams and your right, as soon as you wake, if you dont write them down they dissolve instantly. I bought a book about dreams and the symbolism that your dreams mean. It was interesting to find out what my dreams meant and why I was dreaming about them..

  6. Yes, I do in the back of my regular journal.  I too have seen patterns emerging and if your dreams are anything like mine - you have much to scribble down before the memory is lost forever.

  7. That's cool.  I kept one for a while a couple years ago, but I just got out of the habit of doing so.  I read some of those dreams now, and it is so crazy.  I can still kinda remember parts of the dream after reading about them.

  8. i think its a good idea

  9. i want to

i heard that if you keep record of your dreams and read over them

you can control what happens in your dreams

  10. yeah i do

  11. yes but it's a little scant.  I don't seem to dream as much as i used to.  i do notice patterns too though.  For me I turn into animals a lot in my dreams - a lot.  wolf, cat, bird.  Also, I'm being stalked by a silver handgun, sometimes it kills me, sometimes it's my weapon.

    odd.

  12. I don't, but actually one of my friends made me a "dream box" for my birthday once. I was supposed to write down dreams I liked and put them in the box so I could remember them. Great idea, but I'm too lazy, haha.

  13. I've heard about it but haven't bothered. It does sound really interesting though, I think I might just start :]

    Thanks.

  14. this is really a nice idea. i will start doing this from today. wish for me that i see a very nice dream today and can write it in my diary. yesterday i also saw a nice dream but i almost forgot the dream and trying to remember now, that is with a very close friend of mine. and then?.... trying to remember….

  15. I do not keep a Dream Diary, however, your point is valid.  Research in the chemical processing of short term memory does show that dreams, unless extraordinary in some way, evaporate from the mind in just hours.  Some evidence states that you must be as thorough as possible in writing down your dream state or your mind will still forget or substitute elements over time.  If you dream that much and remember your dreams through the exercise of a diary I suggest you attempt at some point to control your dream from the inside.  If you can do this even in a small way it is very rewarding.  I have done this but never become proficient.

  16. Been doing it for years..fun stuff and will teach you alot about yourself.  And yes, you are right...you have to immediately write the dream down or you not remember it..even if you stay awake for awhile pondering the dream and it meaning.  I write them down and then translate them after i wake up.  Hard to read the scribble sometimes....

You can also ask specific questions before you go to sleep and get the answers while you sleep...in your dreams....HUGS!!
