Do you keep a journal? If so, why?

I've kept a journal my entire life -- it's just a very normal thing for me. I recently reread one I kept in first grade, and it was quite a pleasure (and quite hilarious) to read.

I just want to know why other people out there keep journals?? I don't exactly know why I do it... maybe someone out there can help me figure it out.

  1. I have been keeping an art journal. It's a way to express myself with words.....and pictures.

  2. I've recently starting keeping a journal because I was going through some severe depression. My therapist suggested the idea because she was hoping that putting my feelings onto paper would provide at least some relief and start to cheer me up. The journal itself wasn't enough to bring me around but I did feel better when I would get my feelings and problems off my chest.

I haven't been updating my journal as often as i used to but i do think it's a really good way to help clear your mind.

  3. I don't have a journal, BUT I do have a blog. It's a nice way for me to talk, vent, and express my inner most feelings.

  4. ever since i was little i always wanted a diary. like they did in all  the pre-teen books i used to read. and i always asked Santa for a diary but i never got one i liked. i wanted on with a key lock!! so finally, i was like 11 or 12 when i got it and thats when i started. i was never the type to write in it everyday but i tried my best to do so. so now when i go back and read it i cant help but to laugh!!! one thing has not change tho. im still just as boy crazy as i was then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as i got older i kept a journal. i kept 1 because it helps me sort out my thoughts. and i can confide in it things i cant tell my friends or family. i never wrote too much in it in fear that someone would find it.. but now, when ever i do write it in, i try to keep it as honest as i can. sometimes u cant b honest with the poeple u want to be honest with. sometiems u cant even b honest to urself! always trying to hide some kind of feelings. so my journal is the real me. and i hope to one day give it to my daughter... (if i ever have any kids!)

  5. I feel better when I wrte down what I'm feeling because it means I am less likely to take out my feelings on someone else. The journal helps me get rid of those feelings. I can also revisit places and events through it.

  6. Yes I do. I think it is just fun to write and express my feelings.
