When you sit down in a warm house, dry and cozy ready to eat a meal.Do you think about the homeless and what can be done to help them? You see the sports heroes and movie and pop stars with inordinant sums of money .Yet so many of the heroes of our nation lie under bridges and in sheds freezing. Some will say, "oh there just alcoholic druggies" That is so far from the truth! Check out this site for a glimpse into the problem America sweeps into a dark corner.Total VA funding is only $1.37 per homeless vet per day.

VA funded beds provide for only 1 of every 26 homeless vets

VA funds only 7688 beds for 200,000 homeless veterans on any given night of the year. http://oldtimer.wordpress.com/homeless-veterans-an-overview-of-the-problem/

  1. God Bless AMERICA.... God Bless our VETS !!!

I had 5 of my brothers in service during the Viet Nam Era...

And I have been homeless myself......  I care....

  2. Homelessness occurs for many individuals for many different reasons.  Certainly, our Vets deserve our attention, but no more so than the mentally ill, the poor, the abused-  There is not a single cause, nor a single solution.  Yes, I think of the homeless, and believe that there is not an easy solution...  The Vets are the tip of the iceberg...

  3. Oh. I care. I so care. I had two homeless men staying with us for two months this year and it was so hard. I was hoping that not having to worry about shelter and food for a few months would allow them the opportunity to get a job and save some money and get a place of their own. After two months, 1 job interview and no motivation, I had to tell them that it was time to go. It was like they had been doing it so long that they didn't know anything else and they were not comfortable doing more than just surviving. As a country, we need to not only provide shelter but also the skills to maintain the shelter. These people are so battered physically and emotionally that they need a nations help. Our nation's help.

  4. i do. Every day i see a homeless person sitting around and i want to cry. But in a way i am proud of them because they never gave up on living.   When people treat the homeless in a bad way, i want to hurt the bad people. I am always hoping that one day, all the homeless people will find homes and everyone will be looking up at them instead of down at them. And then the homeless(used to bees) will laugh at the bad people and then yeah. Every night that my mom wants me to eat, i think of how those homeless people are living and then i want to starve to show how greatly i respect them
