To North-Americans, I'm just curious to know which French cities you've heard of, other than Paris ?

  1. Each day I read questions such as yours about how much Americans know about other countries.  I find it rather odd.  There is this concept around the world that Americans lack knowledge or rather, don't care to know anything that is not related to America.  I have to completely disagree.  The vast majority of Americans have taken considerable time whether during their formal education or on their own to learn a great deal about the cultures, languages, customs and geography of other countries.  Many of us have also done extensive international travel to further our knowledge.  In to answer your question, I am aware of a great number of cities in France, more than I can list here.

  2. Lyon, Nice, Marseilles, ...

  3. I'm an American living in Rouen, teaching in a small town a few miles away. I've heard of most of the big cities in France, even if I know nothing about them. Strasbourg was absolutely stunning (and I didn't even get to see it decked out for Noel)!

  4. I studied in Aix-en-Provence and visited about all of the Côte d'Azur, les Gorges du Tarn and the Dordogne area.

I know the south mostly, and I could name around 20 cities in that region... Probably more.

Also had a boyfriend from Orange, one from Strasbourg and another one from Paris.

French lovers are the best! :-)

  5. Lyons, Nice, Cannes, Biarritz, Strasbourg (on the border), Chartes (famous for the cathedral), St. Maur, Chantilly, Chambord, Marseille, Alsace-Lorraine area, Normandy, Brittany (Bretagne).
