I need to go there several times a year, but never found a really fabulous place near St.germain for instance...

I've never stayed in St Germaine, but there are a lot of hotels in the area, as you may know. Perhaps this will make it easier to try out a few.

You can sort your choices by prices, star rating , location , last minute and year round. There are plenty of photos which will indicate the ambience.

( But just to confuse i put my other favourite areas in as well, even though Montparnasse isn't that close to where you suggest.)

There are several adorable hotels in the St. Germain area.

1.) Hotel St Germain des Pres (36 Rue Bonaparte, 6th) boasts a walled garden and wood paneled rooms that make this hotel a quaint choice. (01-43-26-00-19)

2.) Au Manoir St. Germain des Pres (153 boulevard St. Germain, 6tjh) is a dignified place with big bedrooms and jacuzzis in the bathroom.  (01-42-22-21-65)

3.) Le Madison Hotel (143 boulevard St. Germain, 6th) is a beautiful hotel filled with antiques and tapestries. It gives one the feel of an old inn.  (01-40-51-60-00)

You can't really go wrong in this area!
