Do you know a nice budget hotel in Rome?

I'm looking to spend no more than 100 euros for a double with bathroom. Basic accommodation is fine, but want somewhere safe and central. Thanks!

  1. Well, someone before me gave quite a nice list!! You can easily get a double for less than 100 euro I think. I actually WORKED in a youth hostel in Rome and we rented a double room for €50 a night (although that was 2 or 3 years ago). All of the hostels in the city as well as budget hotels give their listings on this site: http://www.hostelworld.com , with full details in English- you can find prices and details of private rooms as well as availability (which is the most important thing because obviously the cheaper ones will become much less available in the summer - this site tells you if they are booked out yet or not). The site also has reviews from customers themselves and you book through it.

    Hope that helps!

  2. I would suggest the follwoing hotel.

    Hotel Felice

    http://www.hotelfelice.com/en/index.htm

The hotel is located in the historical San Lorenzo district in Rome, close to Termini central railway station and the University area. San Lorenzo is a lively district  in Rome, with its array of pubs & restaurants. Enjoy!

  3. ♦Hotel Ercoli

A homely pensione, the Hotel Ercoli has sparkling clean rooms furnished with one eye on convenience (hence the telephone, TV and hairdryer) and the other eye, well, shut. The chintzy decor is nothing to get excited about. Still, breakfast is included and the owner is a friendly chap.

    Hotel Ercoli

    Via Collina 48 00187

    ♦Papa Germano

Apart from some dodgy wallpaper - fans of cloying green and pink rose patterns will feel at home in the dorm, others won't - Papa Germano is a good budget option. The English- and French-speaking owners are cheerful and easy-going, and the rooms somewhat smarter than the dormitory. Internet access is available for a fee.

    Papa Germano

    Via Calatafimi 14a 00185

    ♦Pop Inn Hostel

A perennial favourite with backpackers, the Pop Inn is laid-back, lively and a little tatty round the edges. Rock music fills the common rooms and the multilingual staff are friendly. Beds are available in dorms or private rooms with/without en suites.

    Pop Inn Hostel

    Via Marsala 80 00185

    ♦La Foresteria Orsa Maggiore

A women-only hostel in a beautifully restored, 16th-century convent, this place is run by the Casa Internazionale delle Donne (International Women's House). There are 35 beds, including singles, doubles, triples, quads and a room for eight, some with a private bathroom, some without. There's also a communal room and restaurant where breakfast is served.

    ♦The Yellow hostel

With its bright reds, greens and yellows, the reception of this above-average hostel resembles that of a contemporary design hotel. Facilities, if less eye-catching, are excellent: there's an Internet room with four terminals and a well-organised kitchen with recycling bins.

    ♦Alessandro Downtown Hostel

Slick and professional, the Alessandro is a cheerful, well-run hostel near Termini. Staffed by efficient Australians, it has a large kitchen, a laundry and a friendly common room while beds are in eight to 12-person dormitories. There are two other Alessandro hostels in the area.

    ♦Hotel Castelfidardo

Once your eyes have adjusted to the glare of the yellow walls, you'll find the 13 rooms at this welcoming 3rd floor pensione (there is a lift) to be modest, sparsely furnished affairs. They do, however, all have a TV and a direct telephone line, through which you can log onto the Internet.

    Hotel Castelfidardo

    Web: http://www.hotelcastelfidardo.com

    ♦Hotel Continentale

One of several pensioni in the same building, the Hotel Continentale has rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors and its reception on the ground floor. The pastel-coloured rooms are basic and those facing away from the street are quieter. The owners and staff are friendly and speak several languages, including English and French.

    ♦Hotel San Pietrino

A small two-star place, the San Pietrino has 12 rooms beautifully decorated with cream walls, terracotta floors and tasteful dark-wood furniture. The extras - TV and DVD player, ADSL Internet connection - are unusual for a place in this category. Highly recommended.

    Hotel San Pietrino

    Via Giovanni Bettolo 43 00195

    ♦Beehive hostel

Bright, breezy and colourful, the Beehive is more than your average hostel. In fact, it advertises itself as a hotel and art space, a reference to the guests' paintings that hang in the corridors. To get one of the spotless rooms you'll need to book, as walk-ins are not accepted. Note also that party animals are discouraged.

    Beehive

    Via Marghera 8 00185

    Tel: 06 447 04 553 (info)

  4. Hi, try www.tripadviser.com They have a list of all hotels in Rome and reviews of people who have stayed at the hotels. I also think they have forums where you can ask questions.

    Good Luck

  6. The most fabulous budget hotel (in my opinion) is the:

    Il Colle degli Ulivi, Rome

    Via Colle Palazzola 36

    Zagarolo

    Rome 00039

    Italy

It's central, cheap, friendly and in a lovely part of town.

  7. "Budget Rome" is an oxymoron

There is no budget in Rome these days, especially with the Euro being strong and dollar weak.

There are hostel-like places, like the Beehive, but most are not located in "safe" areas.

  8. In Rome, for that money you would be at a Youth hostel

I wouls also check to see if lushbabe has just pasted and copied some old info off a website or has she personally been to all those places?

  9. i really don't think there is one and for that money/ no way

  10. To be honest, I don't think there's such a thing as budget hotel in Rome, but when I travel, I usually check sites like www.activehotels.com, www.sidestep.com and www.hotels.com

The Sidestep.com site is great at comparing hotels, and filters results matching your requirements.

  11. go to www.needahotel.com and book hotel porta maggiore, we stayed there and it was fine, couple of paint scratches on wall but at €80 a night for double room it was great value and the tram stops right outside the door

  12. I live  in Rome and I know very well the sito    www.SleepInRome.it,

It is a site where you can find a highly selected accommodation at convenient prices.

Hoping to have been of help, I wish you a nice journey in Rome.

    Ciao

    Daniela

  13. In Rome accomodation is expensive . We have also found that the breakfasts in hotels are poor - usually stale bread and treacle like coffee ( and thats it!)

There are some areas of rome that are a bit scary - so be careful when choosing accomodation based on price.

The best hotel we stayed in was called Hotel lancelot and was really close to the colluseum....it was friendly and clean and the breakfasts were good - definately worth checking out the website to see if your budget could stretch.

    have a good trip x
