  1. Sure! Its easier to be registered through an au pair company. They tend to organise everything for you. Im just wondering, are you Australian or are you from overseas looking to work in Australia? Because theres a huge difference in what you have to do between the two.

If you're from overseas and want to work in Aus, then this is the website for you:

    http://www.aupairinaustralia.com.au/

If your an Aussie looking to be an au pair in Aus or overseas then head here:

    http://www.aupairaustralia.com.au/index2...

    Good luck!

  2. If you are from overseas wanting to au pair in Australia, you must have a working visa for Australia and I don't think it is possible to get one to be an au pair. Australian work visas are for skilled workers who have skills in demand in Australia and an au pair does not come under the heading of a skilled worker - it is not on the list of occupations for which workers are required. Also, all workers on work visas must be employed by a business and must be paid Australian award wages - an au pair would not meet these requirements.

If you arrive on anything other than a worker visa and work, you will be here illegally and will be deported when you are caught.

I would have checked out the website provided in another answer, but I am very cautious when I see popups that must be clicked upon to actually read the contents of a website - very dodgy looking.

Go to our Immigration and Citizenship website for information on visas:

    http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/index.htm

You will see in there that the only way you could come to Australia to work as an au pair would be to do so illegally unless you enter on a Working Holiday visa.

    EDIT:

I've looked into it more now. It seems that you are expected to get a working holiday visa. That means that you must be between 18 and 30 and if you're from the USA, Turkey or Thailand, you must have a tertiary education. This visa has yearly quotas. Otherwise, WH visas are only available to young people from Belgium, Canada, Republic of Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan and United Kingdom. You can stay for only 12 months and can't work for any employer for longer than 6 months.

    See http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-... for more information.
