  1. let's take the prius  for example. You will not have a electricity bill because the engine in the prius recharges the battery when you are rolling to a stop. Toyota calls this regenerative braking. Then when you accelerate again, the

    motor will assist

    the engine.

  2. Hybrids generate their own electricity, so your (not youre) electric bill will not be high, because they don't need to be plugged in.

  3. Hybrid cars generate their own electricity, they are not plugged in at all.

  4. Right now hybrids don't plug in.  They recharge the battery by using the energy in the gasoline (using it more efficiently than an internal combustion engine), or by regenerative braking.

There will be plug-in hybrids soon.  Electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids cost around 2-3 cents per mile to recharge.  In comparison, with gas at $4.50/gallon, a Prius costs 9 cents per mile and a 30 mpg car costs 15 cents per mile.
