  1. there are some people that may not be aware of the issue but there are other companies that will sell them even when they know the reprocutions. that's kinda corrupt. good looking out with the video

  2. I also saw this and it happens all the time, either the tires are very old or they are returns from a past customer and the bad part is that people put trust in these shops.

What I do for my customers if they have any concerns is to check the date code on their tires and if new or within a year and the code is wrong which I have seen, I will call the tire store for them and 100 percent of the time the customer will get a "NEW" set of tires.

I also tell them how to read the codes if they should call..

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) requires that Tire Identification Numbers be a combination of the letters DOT, followed by ten, eleven or twelve letters and/or numbers that identify the manufacturing location, tire size and manufacturer's code, along with the week and year the tire was manufactured.

Since 2000, the week and year the tire was produced has been provided by the last four digits of the Tire Identification Number with the 2 digits being used to identify the week immediately preceding the 2 digits used to identify the year.

  3. I saw that one night and it was very troubling.  Many dirty dealers will tell you they're new (which they are - never used), but they don't say they've been sitting around for years.  Somethings got to be done.

  4. brand new.

    new car and everything dude.

  5. I can't believe more hasn't been done to expose this, considering how real of a danger it is.  Obviously ABC did a piece on it (the video clip) but it's the first I've ever heard of it.  If someone had a very bad accident due to driving on "old" new tires, how could they even begin to prove it in court and have something done about it.  More people should definitely be informed about this.
