A former acquantaince of mine used to collect stamps for charity but since his death, I am left with people still donating stamps within my organisation but my having no charitable outlet for them. Does anyone have any useful suggestions of any appropriate UK charities?

  1. Guide Dogs for the Blind used to take postage stamps but they no longer find it cost effective.  Therefore their collection program phased out at the end of 2007.

Oxfam accept used stamps and nearly every town in UK has an Oxfam shop so you can drop them off.  The website is https://www.oxfam.org.uk/shops/content/s...

Here are a couple of other places that collect used stamps to support their causes:

Bransby Home of Rest for Horses, based in the UK, rescues and cares for horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules. Their website is http://www.bransbyhorses.co.uk/  Click on 'Ways You Can Help'.

RNIB, based in the UK, provides support for blind and partially sighted people.  Their website is http://www.rnib.org.uk/xpedio/groups/pub...  Click on ‘Fundraising’ and then ‘Recycle’.

Care and Relief for the Young – help young children and their families; http://www.cry.org.uk  Click on ‘Get Involved’.

Cornwall Wildlife Trust – dedicated to wildlife in need; http://www.cornwallwildlifetrust.org.uk/  For information on donating used stamps, click ‘Get involved’ on the left, then the recycling symbol on the right.

For those in Canada, here are some options:

Oxfam Canada helps people in 28 countries around the world.  Their website is http://www.oxfam.ca/what-you-can-do/fund...

Ontario SPCA – cares for animals in need; http://www.ontariospca.ca/3-more.shtml

The Leprosy Mission Canada – Go to http://www.leprosy.ca and click on ‘About You’.  Under that go to ‘Volunteer’ and then ‘Stamp Program’.

Canadian Bible Society – Go to http://www.biblesociety.ca/districts/ind... and click on your province for details.

I can't find anywhere in the United States who take them.

  2. Guide Dogs for the Blind

  3. Guide Dogs For The Blind, Age Concern, Lifeboats, cancer charities - the list is endless

  4. I send my used postage stamps to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds : they are most grateful.

  5. Cats Protection League used to take used stamps of any kind or try the Blind Assosiation they again used to take them.  Hope this is useful to you
