  1. YES! Many NBA players enjoy playing pool. As a matter of fact, Dale Davis just held the second annual “Dale Davis Foundation and Detroit Pistons All-Star Charity 8-Ball Tournament.” All proceeds from the event, at Slapsticks Billiards and Spirits in Clinton Township, went  toward scholarships for Detroit-area students. (AWESOME!)

"Dale won’t be an easy out: Growing up in Georgia, Davis played billiards pretty often."

“I used to play at the rec centers when I was around 10 years old and into my early teen years,” Davis said. “We used to have the pool tournaments and that was always a fond memory. I always looked forward to playing in those tournaments.” Dale’s pool playing has continued during his NBA career. A trip to the pool hall can usually get a few teammates together on an off day. “We sometimes go out and play a game,” Davis said. “Not too often, but we do. We’ll get together and shoot pool and have some fun.”

    Players include:

    Rasheed Wallace

Chauncey Billups  Ã¢Â€ÂœChauncey is pretty good, actually,” Davis said. Jason Maxiell

    Lindsey Hunter

    Flip Murray

Davis said a couple of former Pacers teammates - Reggie Miller and Chuck “The Rifleman” Person - were the best pool players he saw in the league.

Chris Webber (recently retired from the Golden State Warriors)

Billiards is a good playoff diversion: To avoid the distractions of the Miami nightlife when they went on the road for the conference finals last year, the Pistons players and staff got together and organized their own billiards tournament. “All I remember is there were four tables going at once and the action hot and heavy, rolling pretty good,” said Pistons trainer Mike Abdenour. Though memories of the winner are foggy, the tournament was a popular diversion - something that the Pistons might find themselves doing again in a month or so.

Dale Davis added: “I wanted to do a billiards tournament for a couple of reasons,” he said. “For one, a lot of people play. Two, it’s a pretty easy sport for the players to interact with the fans. Many people are not good at it - like some of the guys on our team - but we like to get out, shoot some pool and talk a little smack. It will be a fun way to do something good for people.”

During the 2008 NBA All-Star Weekend in New Orleans, Bobby Jackson (point guard for the Sacramento Kings) and his wife, Dona,  hosted a Billiards Tournament at Bricktown Brewery. The Jackson’s, working through Hearts & Hands International and World Vision, used the proceeds from this event to benefit orphans in Kenya, Africa.

The event featured a billiards tournament, an NBA game on big screens, and a fantastic silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind items including a collectors set of Michael Jordan jerseys. Bobby Jackson (SAC Kings), Chris Paul, Desmond Mason (Milwaukee Bucks), David West, Tyson Chandler, and other Hornets players, took part in this tournament to support a great cause!

Charles Barkley (He's a "slouch" but enjoys playing pool)

Wayman Tisdale (EX-Phoenix Sun --plays in a Jazz band)

Check out http://www.nba.com/suns/fans/lockerroom.... to see the Suns' beautiful pool table in the Phoenix Suns' recreation room. You'll see Shaq trying to hustle you for a game. I'll take on the 'gentle giant' ANY day! His pool game is about as good as his freethrow percentage!!? NO offense, Shaq Daddy!

I'm sure there are many, many more NBA players who enjoy playing Pool.
