Question:

Do you know any dishonest charities?

I love the idea of Charities and support the thinking behind them. However I have had experience of certain Charities misusing funds, for example paying a friend of the Director £10000 to perform an overhaul of the charities policies and only changing the font, to name hundreds. I am sure when faced with a big pot of money corruption sinks in. Has anyone else go first hand experience of Charity money going elsewhere? If anyone wants more real stories I know one about some oxfam donations that got pee'd up a wall.

  1. I would avoid the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities. Their Director of Special Projects sounds really nice when she initially talks to you. But this 'disability organization' threatens people who won't let her address subordinates exactly how she wants. And they completely doubt that the ADA is applicable to colleges/universities even when this nation is loaded with paperwork doccumenting it. She is a control freak who you will ultimately be scared to be alone in the room with.

And then stay away from Peak Performers. This non-profit temporary agency says it employs people with disabilities. But they get offended when you are a productive worker, finishing your assingment early. They want you squandering workplace resources just to finish out an assingnment length rather than properly using (in many cases) public sector resources, ironically in offices with 'do not waste public resources' posters plastered everywhere!

  2. Sort of. There is a boy in my school who keeps asking people to sponsor him to "Not muck about and complete all work" so he can go on holiday. He also copies games to keep and sells the originals that is illlegal game p****y. His name is Thomas/Tom Stevens and he goes to Framwellgate School Durham so don't sponsor him.

  3. american cancer society - they lie about cancer research as well as their profits/proceeds

  4. Sadly, wherever there is money, there are greedy people. Misuse of funds in charities in my long experience is due to poor management and well menaing people being too trusting. I could tell you stories that would make your hair curl and the Charity Commission website also gives details of the results of their investigations into charities. However, the vast majority are well run and at the end of the day, its up to the individual to decide where to put his or her money.

  5. were i live...there r millions of charities n i fink dey r all lyin cos dey all look like ugly men in women suits n dey relly creap me out cos when i go past dey all stop n stare at me!

    aaaa

  6. For many years a lot of the people shaking boxes outside supermarkets and so on are run by legitimate but dodgy businesses who pay the collector a good cash percentage of the take and the charity gets a tiny fraction of the take.  Real con.  Same now with most of the street collectors.
