My wife is pregnant, and her first visit to a ob/gyn here was not good. We need a ob/gyn, western trained, with good English in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain (we might have to move there). We don't like Corniche Hospital, because I cannot be there for the delivery. We like Al Noor and Franco Emirien (or any other that allows the husband to be there).

By the way, the french and the german doctors that used to work at Gulf are gone :(...

  1. I just faced almost the same problem. My recommendation still would be Gulf Diagnostics. On Sept. 7th a new female French Gyn will start working at the Clinic. I'll wait for her.

The German one who left Gulf Diagnostics will open her own office in Abu Dhabi soon. At least the most docs at Gulf are Western educated. At Al Noor I was advised to see Dr. Amam (don't know if I spelled her name right). She is Lebanese and was recommended to me by another doc.

In Al Ain many local and expat women choose Oasis hospital for maternity services. No personal experience here.

No matter what hospital you will go to, please do not forget to ask for how long in advance you have to make reservation. My friend underwent a terrible experience 8 months ago at Corniche Hospital, also when her husband was allowed to stay.

Another opportunity would be to visit the Gyn at Dr. McCulloch's Clinic (same building as Al Noor). She is an Indian, educated in Britan and nice and friendly. There is also a Russian Gyn working at Al Noor (forgot her name). I visited her with a friend. She had good manners and spoke perfect english.

I think it's terrible when a mum to be visits one certain Gyn during her pregnancy and then will be surrendered by stangers giving birth.

All the best and good luck!
