Do you know any good organizations that help the homeless?

Me and my little sister were on our way home from the mall when we stopped at a traffic light and there was a really raggedy homeless man who held up a sign that said; "Homeless. I haven't eaten in a while. If you can donate food or money i will really appreciate it." The image is still stuck in my head. Me and my sister cried for like 30 minutes. And we want to know if there are any organizations that we can raise money for to help the homeless.

Most communities have a Homeless Coalition, a United Ministries or local churches that assist the homeless.

Catholic Charities is an organization that helps the homeless, regardless of their religious affiliation.  There are branches all over the U.S..
