Do you know any home cures for poison ivy, oak,etc?

my mom has what we think is some kind of poison oak or ivy and we cant really afford to buy the expensive stuff they sell at the pharmacy.... and i was wondering if there were any typical home medicines we could use to help her

yeah, i went to the Dr. and he gave me prednisone shot...did some reading and now i think it might be shingles, i will probably never know really what it is...
