  1. When I lived in North Carolina, we played 6 ball in the beer joints.  It's the same as 9 ball, just played with 6 balls so that you can play more games on your quarter.

  2. Poison: The object is to put your opponents balls in first. In other words it works like 8 ball in reverse. If you have solids, you try to put in all the strips first, the put yours in in numeric order afterwords.

  3. You can find a complete listing of pool games in the BCA rulebook and you can find rules for the most commonly played games on the BCA website.  Straight pool (14.1 Continuous) is my favorite and Bowling rules (Bowlliards) is an interesting game.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

  4. This one is called "Baseball"....you play your opponent for 9 innings(turns)......you break the rack....any balls made get spotted.....prior to starting you put a coin on the table edge....you then shoot ANY ball that you want and each counts only 1 run(point)....at anypoint, you can flip the coin over and from that point on you have to shoot them in sequence....these now count 2 points.....you shoot until you miss or finish the rack....you add up your points over the 9 innings and that determines the winner.....the game you mentioned is a good way to learn the travel of the cue ball....although you are not actually shooting with it.........instead of 9 ball....play 15 ball....shoot the entire rack to the 15.....more objects to travel around and will make 9 ball a little easier when playing that game..........BATTER UP!!...enjoy!!
