What is the planet that comes the closest to Earth?  Venus.  The rule is that planets closer to the Sun are closer to each other.  The gaps get bigger and bigger.  But at the moment, Mercury is the closest planet to the Earth.  Mars and Venus are on the other side of the Sun.  Well, so is Mercury, but remember, Mercury is closest to the Sun...  This is a little unusual.
