Do you know anyone that actually became a successful bartender after going to bartending school??

is it worth the $500 to go if I really don't know much about making drinks really?

don't waste your money. Get a job in a restaraunt watch and learn, then let manger know you are intersted in bartending.

yes it is worth it you can easily make up to $600 or more at a busy place and yes i am sure i have worked in bar/ restuarant since age of 14 and have seen bartenders make alotttt of money but do yourself a favor have a backup dont just bartend becuase as you get older bars will replace you and you need a backup

Listen to Traci.  This is still one job on the job training is still the best.  What you can do to educate yourselve is go on line get drink receipes, talk to people that drink and bartenders. There is always one that wants you to try their special drink.  I am old school--I started many years ago (went and did something else for awhile & I am back).  You learn soon if you are right for bartending or not.  Good Luck
