Question:

Do you know anything about Bo Jackson's workout regimen?

I heard a rumor that Bo Jackson never really lifted weights. Instead, he did calisthenics and water aerobics. It seems a little far fetched to me that one of the greatest athletes of all time didn't hit the weight room. Do you know anything about this?

  1. I have not heard that.  He was a gifted, natural physical specimen. In his day, there were NONE better.  His injury with Oakland was a sad day for sports fans.

I do remember Herschel Walker doing an extreme calisthenic routine.  Both those players were something to behold in college.  Herschel used to do hundreds of sit-ups in front of the TV every day.  I think his minimum was 400 per day.

Ricky Henderson was another non-weight guy.  He stretched extensively before goin to sleep, along with a bowl of ice cream every night!  All about calisthenics during the day - not a fan of weights.  Incredible longevity.

  2. I don't know much about the man's workout routine, but growing up in the Show-Me State I do remember him running up a wall after making a catch on the dead run and gunning out people from the wall like no other...so whatever he was doing IT WAS WORKING!

  3. I read a story about Bo.  After breaking the state record in shotput by 15 yards someone asked him how he did it.  He replied that when he was a kid he would throw bricks at people from his backyard over the house.  The guy is a freak

  4. a lot can be said for calestenics and bodyweight exercises.

doing a couple hundred squats (with no weight), a couple hundred pushups, wall chairs, hindu pushups, handstand pushups, pull ups, chin ups, or kettlebell exercises each day.......can do soooooo much good for one's body.
