Do you know anything about Guanacaste Costa Rica?

Question

We are traveling to Playa Hermosa on our honeymoon in August. Is there vegetarian food? What cool stuff is there to do? Any restaurant reccomendations? The weather? Or anything else you think we should be aware of?

Hi!

I live in Costa Rica, but in San Jose.  However I've been a lot in Guanacaste.  This Province (State) is very sunny and hot, the beaches are amazing (Playa Hermosa is beautiful).  I guess you'll be staying at some hotel... The only thing to be aware off is not leaving visible stuff in your rental car, since there are many inmigrant from north (Nicaragua) that likes to catch things from tourists (unaware ones!).  Besides that CostaRica is the best country to live in.  If you need any more info... Here is a link directly to the beach you are staying at. Like the others said it is a very hot dry and sunny place to stay. August is in the rainy season so expect rain in the afternoons and evenings. It will be wise to pack some lightweight rain gear, like those ponchos that fold up into a little pocket.

Another thing to be mentioned is the petty theft problem in the country. Be careful with your valuables and don't give thieves the opportunity to take your things. Its common sense, and very sensible to be aware of.

Other than that there is a lot of tourist based infrastructure and the majority of Costa Ricans are pleasent and helpful. Vegetarian food is easy to find as the staple of most diets is Rice and Black Beans. There are so many varieties of fruit here, it is like smoothie heaven!
