  1. I always thought kosher was more like a list of what you can and can't eat, not really the way things are cooked or processed. Eating meat and dairy together isn't allowed; they can't even touch. You can't eat animals that have died by another animal or by natural causes. There's a ritual to the slaughter - cut the throat, quickly and deeply. It's very quick and sounds more humane than what our cattle farms do. Then, the blood is drained. You can't eat the organs or flesh, and you can only eat animals that have cloven hooves and chew cud. There's a lot of good info on the website listed below.

  2. it is conducted by rules set in religious laws 2000 years old..

the pagans at the time used blood in offering's to the gods

the Jews abhor the idea and bleed the beast .to death..

today the Rabi is not always present but trained specialist provide the what ever..

That PETA video is very old and they use the very worst to advertise..

today's Meat Industry employs the most efficient methods of slaughter..The FDA and USDA are on staff to inspect and approve the quality of all meat production..

BUT the slaughter is messy...even butchering is well not nice.. BUT a tons of meat must be prepared every day for the world..

Kosher is an archaic method and a waste..

check the home page of this site  and the small picture of the steer,,That shows Kosher and dirty Non Kosher

    EDIT OOpss

    I forgot I'm 68 ha ha

Insane logic... One animal ,,,the singular blood system,, the meat in front clean,,the hind half meat unclean ,,,Insane

the radical respect for other stuff is a result of having NO refrigeration

  3. Yes, I do.

-Animal is checked for sicknesses, if sickness is found animal is discarded, if not, it's kept

-Religious Jewish man slaughters the animal by cutting across the carotid artery

-Blood and body fluid are drained from the animal

-Animal is opened to check its vital organs are not diseased

-Animal is sent to kosher meat-packing plant

-Plant is under supervision of rabbinic authority

    ~etc,etc

Eventually the meat comes to our kosher delis in a nice little package, and when it's at home we salt it to drain the blood, (takes a while) and then cook it.

No religious Jew will eat a rare steak. We are not allowed to consume blood.

  4. If you have a brave enough heart watch this video -

  5. I am a former chef and while a few have some correct information alot is incorrect or politically motivated.

Cattle for kosher slaugthered are the same as other, but they are killed in a ritual way, like halal, they cannot suffer, any pain so it is done quickly, they must be bleed of all fluids and washed, this is done by either under the supervision of a rabbi or a rabbinical authority, then the meat is salted to remove all traces of blood and then after the salting it is washed and sealed with the rabbinical seal to certify the meat is ready for consumption and is kosher.

I was a chef for many years and worked with Kosher operations and toured a meat packing plant were it was done and give all the details of the process.

  6. Yes. My bf told me. =( I can't believe that is allowed. Why are people so brutal and heartless. =(

  7. Meet that is considered Kosher is actually blessed by a Rabi and the animals neck is cut rather than the way that it is done in slaughter houses where animals are given electric shocks, hung by there legs upside down and then like a conveyor belt killed one after another in a cruel and brutal fashion.
