  1. Stuff like that is usually done on plywood or mdf.  They drill holes in the sheet of plywood, cover it with foam or quilt batting, then fabric of your choice, then stick a needle through the hole, attach a button and go back through the same hole.  You may have to put a button on the back too, so the thread doesn't go back when you tie it off.  Next you mount the plywood to the wall.

You could use a spray adhesive to attach the batting to the walls, use a staple gun to attach fabric, top, bottom & sides of fabric.  Next step would be to nail a button at equal distances across fabric.  Finish up by putting your decorative moldings over the staples.

  2. This is actually a custom item.

You can achieve the same look and do it yourself saving quite a bit of money.

You start out with your desired size of plyboard or MDF. Pre drill your holes for the button that you will add to create the tufted look. You would then add padding or batting then your fabric. Then add your decorative fabric covered buttons. You would attach the buttons with a heavy twine then pull taught on the back side then tie and cut the excess string. This creates the tufted look shown.

  3. Call a couple of local upholsterers (look in the yellow pages) and see if they will do that or know someone who can.  This isn't something you'd want to tackle yourself until you practiced on a smaller area first.  When you're dealing with gathering and puckering fabric, it can get out of hand and terrible-looking in a big hurry.
