I had sent my amended tax form back to the IRS around April 8th 2008, and Im still waiting on my refund for that which is $200.00 they say it takes 6-12 weeks but I been waiting for about 14 wks. And worse case scenario ( the hotline won't recieve any calls) to check your status.

  1. The IRS is so jammed up with the stimulus stuff that they will be doing well if they get to your return by December.  Well maybe not that long but any normal processing time is not likely.  The problem you have is that there is no way to tell if they ever got the amendment in the first place.  They do lose them from time to time so you should check as soon as you can get through to them.

  2. IRS is busy processing original tax return for the 2007 filing.

And it is taking over 14 weeks to process amended returns. IRS is having to manual process tax returns from 2002 thru 2006 that were needed to be filed because IF taxpayers were not in full compliance IRS was holding the 2007 refund and rebate, and in order for taxpayers to receive rebate they also had to be in full complaince.

So in time IRS will get to your amended once they finish processing "original" tax returns.

Be patient, that is what happens when you rush to file without having all your tax information.
