SPELLS

The spell is at the heart of folk magick. it is simply a ritual in which various tools are purposefully used, the goal is fully stated (in words, pictures or within the mind): & energy is moved to bring about the needed result.

Spells can be as simple as reciting a short chant over a fresh rose while placing it between 2 pink candles in order to draw love; forming & retaining an image of the needed result in the mind; or placing a quartz crystal in a sunny window for protection purposes.

To perform effective magick - 3 necessities must be present: The Need, the Emotion & the Knowledge.

It has been said that magick was the first religion, & that if you lovingly utilize the forces of nature to cause beneficial change, you also become one of them.

It is these powers that have been personified as Goddesses & Gods. Attuning with them is a spiritual experience & is the basic of all true religion.

COMPOSE THE RHYME OR WORDS OF POWER

Clearly state your need.

Clearly state all dimensions of your need (enduring love, rather than just love; complete protection, rather than just physical protection; etc.).

If possible, mention some of the tools that you've decided to use in the spell in your words of power or magickal rhyme. Indeed, for some spells, these words may help you to structure the entire rhyme or chant.

Use hypnotic words (those beginning with 's" or containing a "z") for psychic-awareness, love, healing spells; Use potent, strong words for protection spells. match the words to the type of ritual you're composing.

Don't expect the words to simply flow from you. Work at it & work with them. Your psychic mind knows what you need.

EXAMPLES:

"I ask in the name of (Goddess & God or The All) that I,

(state your name), be granted (state desire). I ask that this be correct & for the good of all people. So mote it be.

In no way will this spell reverse, or place upon me any curse."

"In this night & in this hour, I call upon the Ancient power. O Goddess Bride & Consort Bright, I ask thee now to bring your light."

Write Your Own Spell: Spell/Ritual Outline

In making your spells, it helps to write things out in an outline first, and then work your ritual out from there. Here is an outline you can use as a guidelines and even print out and fill in as you go along! Print as many copies as you need. You will probably only need to go through the entire outline for the first few spells.

1.Define the goal of the ritual

2.Decide when and where you will work your magick, keeping in mind lunar phases and days of the week

3.Find or create an appropriate chant for the spell (a simple rhyme will do)

4.If you will be invoking a god or goddess, decide on which one and write out any special prayers that you will use to call that diety.

(For example, if you were calling Hecate, you could simply say "Hecate, Dark Goddess, I call thee!")

5.Plan how you will visualize your goal in your mind. Describe it.

6.Decide on any correspondences, such as herbs, colors, elements, that you want in your ritual. Write these down and decide on how to include them in the ritual. Example:

"Water would be appropriate for this ritual, so I will have a bowl of water on my altar".

With all this written out, you are ready to decide how you will perform the ritual using the information you have gathered. Now, let's start the magick! At the appropriate time gather together all the items you will need for your spell and go to the place where you will be performing the ritual.

Cast your circle. Invite whatever dieties you wish to have present. Light incense to invite the God and Goddess into your circle if you wish and say any prayers you want. Clear your mind and begin visualizing your goal as you planned. You can state your goal out loud if you want to.

Raise energy within yourself as you use your chant, or raise energy without a chant if you would rather. Light your candles, charge your stones, dance, sing, etc. to focus your attention and raise energy. Here is where you should involve your correspondences in the spell!

When you feel that you have put as much energy into your spell as you possibly can, send the energy out to do your will. Relax, thrust open your arms, do whatever makes you feel that the energy being released. Finish your spell by stating

"So mote it be" or "This is my will, so it shall be".

It is a sign of closure and a declaration that you know your magick will be successful. Close your circle and thank the deities who have been with you. Ground your energy. Have your cakes and ale, or cookies and juice if you prefer. Record your ritual in your Book of Shadows and save any remaining items that you wish in your personal witch's box. Congratulations! You have completed your working!

REMEMBER: SIDE EFFECTS ARE NOT COMPLETELY NECESARY, ITS JUST THAT MOST PEOPLE HAVE THEM.

Sometimes side effects don't happen until 2 weeks after saying the spell. Tail colors vary, and you do not decide what color your tail will be. It takes about a month to six weeks for your tail to fully develope. You do not get to choose your power. Powers I've heard of are the h2o powers (heating water, freezing water, or shaping water), psychic powers, and telekinesis. The power may take up to 2 months to develope.

For this spell to work you need to have a symbol; something that is special to you and is on your upper part of your body so it will be visible when you grow a tail. it can be a necklace, a bracelet, a ring, your hair,your eyes,etc. You cannot take it off for more than two hours at a time or you will lose your power and tail or the spell won't work. You also have to believe the spell will work or else it might not.
