  2. no... tried but bored me..

  3. Yes, I do...learn to play it, you won't regret it, it's the best game you will ever play.

  5. Pawns move one space (two, if you want, on your first turn) forward, and diagonally to kill.

    Castles move vertically and horizontally.

Horses move in an L shape.

    Rooks move diagonally.

Queen moves horizontally, vertically, and diagonally.

King moves one space at a time in any direction.

If a pawn makes it to the other side of the board, you can choose a captured piece to bring back.

The object is to "check mate" the other player's king.  This means putting them in a position where they will be killed no matter where they move.  It gets easier with time.  Be patient.

  6. i dont want to learn. it looks stupid and confusing. i love checkers though.. it seems much more fun

  7. Yes, but I am a bit of a dork and love this kind of ubergeekness.  I am also a school teacher, so now you know what happens to nerds after high school.  :)))

As to telling you how to play, well the lighter color always goes first, which is usually white.  You will need to find a person who plays and is willing to teach you or read an instructional manual.  There are many good books for beginners, but you will have to learn chess notation.  This is basically a coordinate system based on the rows and columns that the chess pieces occupy.  The notation is needed to understand where the books are telling you to move and why.

However, Chessmaster has a good tutorial program for beginners.

  8. Chess is a game of strategy and skill.

Each piece has a designated and limited direction that

it may be moved. The best way to learn is to observe

other players after doing a little reading about each piece.

Only two players may play at a time.  White pieces move

first. Depending on your opponent's moves you must

strategize to remove his King while protecting yours.

This should help you, it's a bit of reading, but chess has a lot of rules...

there's even illustrations to understand each pieces movements better.

    Good Luck, have fun

  10. Either go to the library and check out a book, or buy you a game to learn to play on the computer.  It is far too complicated to explain on Yahoo Answers.

    Good luck
