how do i teach myself to play guitar?

I taught myself. I bought a guitar from the pawn shop, and I got one of those instruction books/DVDs from Guitar Center.

It was super easy for me, but I've been involved with music since I was a child so I didn't have a ton to learn. Even if you don't have a music background, you can definitely teach yourself; you just need to be committed.

just look up some tab online and just keep playing it over and over
