Do you know how to turn water on? I am not kidding here!!!?

I have lived in two homes as an adult but have never been shown how to turn water on. Do you know how?

Find the water meter and turn the valve counter-clockwise. This won't do any good if the main water from the City hasn't been turned on.

Turn water on at road where meter is.If this is on start looking for a cut off valve for the house

The on/off valve is in the basement near the laundry water heater....what I did was turn on the outside faucet and then came down and had someone tell me if it was on.....not a silly question...
