Question:

Do you know if ladybugs bite....people ?

The neighbor says he was bitten by one once. Was he just kidding or was he being abstract in his use of "ladybug" ?

  1. No, they do not bite people.


  2. They can bite.  It's not very common but they do it.

  3. Yes, ladybugs can be terrible little biters if you let one crawl on you!

  4. The ones that are red with black dots do not bite.  The ones that are orangish with the dark dots DO bite.

    Also... katydids bite.  I found this out when showing one to my 2 y.o. grandson... and hid it well so as not to scare him, but I was certainly surprised!

  5. our little red native ladybugs usually do not bite.... but those new Asian ladybugs, in yellow and orange and white, DO bite and they stink something awful if you squash one, and the spot won't come off the paint, either!....

  6. No. Ladybugs are harmless to humans. What you might feel, however, when one walks across your skin is a kind of prickly sensation from their spiked feet and legs.
