Kicks backs like a few years ago when disc jockeys on the radio use to get paid special payments to play certain bands on the radio. They outlawed that. I recently went back to college after a few yrs of working. My school book was 170$ just for one. I know what you think, i should of bought it used right? Well, there is a password in the book that i need to get online with to turn in homework. He wont accept it in person only online thought ichapters.com. If i bought it used i would be unable to turn in HW. So do you know if the teacher get kicks backs from the text book companies to run his class room this way?

  1. No they don't.

  2. I remember one year buying a book that my professor had written to see that the back of it was endorsed by all the other authors she forced us to buy for her class. I'm sure there are a lot of things that go on behind the scenes. Just imagine if some teacher decided to throw 50,000 your way through forced book sales, wouldn't you want to 'thank' them?

  3. What do you think? That's probably the correct answer. I can't really comment on this situation, but in general, yes, teachers do get kickbacks. These kickbacks are probably not in the form of money, but rather in the form of free samples, etc. Books are big business and it's hardly surprising that publishers will use all kinds of gimmicks to get a teacher to use a certain textbook.
