No.  But many genealogists work for themselves, so you can maybe locate one in your area.  Contact your county's genealogical society for assistance.

Genealogy search can be anything from dropping by the courthouse to pick up a copy of a record, to compiling a complete genealogy.  For most persons, complete genealogies are years worth of work.  Yes.. many people look up their ancestry online, and find huge files that they immediately accept without question. They have not done enough to know for certain, if that info is good or faulty.

Overall.. since your ancestry will not likely be in all one location.. that means different persons, with expertise in those areas. If you want a full genealogy, be prepared for hundreds or thousands of dollars.

To me, cyndi's is the encyclopedia of research resources, includes a beginner section AND a section regarding professional searchers.  Browse around.

I've always said that hiring someone to do the search for me, would be like hiring someone to go out to a lobster dinner for me. They get all the fun.  It is not as difficult as it seems, by the way, to research it yourself.

I have used ancestry.ca or .com US to put together an ancestry of my family.

I  paid by a two week period. About $6. per week. I was able to put together a great deal of information using this service.

You do need to interview all the oldest relatives for sur names, birth dates and birth places.

Ancestry.com/ca will let you get started without any cost. It is only when you wish to check their data bases that there is a cost so it is worth your time.

They have Canadian census data going back to 1800's and access to the World Tree - Other peoples data etc. is available for a cost.
