Do you know of a really posh restaurant in London or Paris?

My other half and I are looking to do something different.

I really want to wear a dress that I wore for my 21st, it's a full length dress, very pretty, I need somewhere really posh to wear it. Where my other half can also wear his suit. Without us standing out.

We don't mind travelling to Paris for this.

Know of anywhere?

  1. Mmmm,I came up with a number of places until you said the dress was full length,Im not sure you wouldn't stand out anywhere now.

Its a shame to only wear a lovely dress once though,so I know where your coming from.

Maybe you could look out for somewhere having a dinner dance or a ball, then it would be appropriate.

  2. There are so many. Where are you travelling from ? If you plan to stay in a hotel overnight, stay in a good one, and ask the concierge, who will point you in the right direction. Bear in mind the poshest restaurants often have long waiting lists.

  3. Blimey there are quite a few! You could try the Ivy but need to book well ahead. The Oxo tower has a fantastic Harvey Nic's restaurant.

    Enjoy!

  4. in even the smartest restaurants you might look a bit out of place in a full length dress, so i'd agree that you should look out for a ball or event which requires a more formal look. have a look on the square meal and toptable websites they both feature the best restaurants in paris and London and you can sort restuarnst by type 'romantic', 'formal' etc etc

  5. Can you afford a really posh European resteraunt?

Tour d'Argent in Paris is well up there.

Savoy in London is another top one.

  6. GET HIM TO TAKE YOU TO THE RITZ

  7. Why not have the dress shortened to get more use.

  8. The Ritz in London do posh dinner dances and both the food and surroundings are superb.

  9. Great idea!  For the really tops I suggest Paris.  I have eaten at every 3 star place there and in London and the top places in Paris win hands down. Also, there are some pretty dining rooms that would suit your dress.  I especially recommend Le Meurice, which has a gorgeous belle epqoue room and stunning food.  For reviews and photos see my web site below.  If in London, then Gordon Ramsay  in Chelsea is your best bet, though booking is a nightmare, and the room is quite small, though smart.  Go for Meurice of you have the choice.

  10. Go to either Chez Bruce in Wandsworth - easyish to get a table even though it is always in top ten restaurants in london, Maze - Gordon Ramsays restaurant in Mayfair is very good and quite dressy or for the best food ever try Thyme - if you can get a table.

  11. Try Pied a Terre in Charlotte St., London (just off Tottenham Court Road). It has a couple of Michelin stars and a very intimate atmosphere. Otherwise Locanda Locatelli in Seymour St (near the Cumberland Hotel) is the place to go if you like very good Italian. As for the dress - I agree with the others, get in shortened to a length you feel comfortable with and you will look a million dollars! Have a great night out.

  12. I absolutely love the:

    Restaurant du Palais-Royal

    110 Galerie Valois, 1st, Paris. Tel: (1) 40 20 00 27. Closed Sun. Average €50.

    Very romantic!.

    In London, try Gordon Ramsey's:

68 Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea, London, SW3 4HP

  13. The ivy (London) it's a favourite with celebs

  14. You could try the Jules Verne on the Eiffel Tower - 125 m above ground - has its own lift and is now run by Alain Ducasse who is one of the top chefs in the world - fabulous views and fabulous food!

Another stunning restaurant in Paris, which has been going for over 200 years is Le Grand Vefour, in the Palais Royale.

Wherever you end up, have a truly fab time!

  15. There are 2 favorites of mine in the city, when i have saved my pennies up to go they are ,Le Caprice in Arlington st, phone to get a reservation first or The Ivy.

If you are in the E14 area you have The Plateau but you will not get much change out of £300.00 for 2 but it has some magnificent wines to choose from

    So enjoy

  16. Never been there before.

  17. The Restaurant in the Hotel Meurice, on the Rue Rivoli in Paris...a beautiful Restaurant in a Magnificent Hotel, but take plenty of cash as with a decent wine it will cost you some £400 for dinner......

Or not as expensive but still 2 Michelin stars and speak good English....

La Table de Joel Robuchon....16 Avenue Bugeaud, Paris...
