The photos are from 1985, they are black and white. The last person responsible for the archives office wasn't very responsible for the archives office. Many of the pictures I am working with have massive chunks of missing information, and this is what I need help with. Thanks.

  2. use a "hot knife" - looks a bit like a flat blade exacto but it has a heating element for the blade. It's all one piece and you can dial the heat settings. Very easy to use without causing any damage and great for removing too old tape from photos and documents ,so it's a first line tool for you to use, another

tool is "Un-Du" made by a company of the same name, It is acid free and photo safe,Old black and white prints on paper: Keep in clean cold water (so they don’t start to dry out and stick together) until you can do something.  If they are going to sit in a basin of water for a couple of days, be sure to change the water daily. The photos must be dried separately within 72 hours, another method:a heated, very thin spatula (edges sanded down) helpful in removing photos ,but the best you can do is ;professionals (ie photographers, conservators, etc) are more able to do this than hobbyists due to access to the right kind of tools and a certain level of hand skill. and the previous answer is a professional , will

    know what to do,luck!
