Do you know of an insurance plan that covers......?

I live in Houston, Texas and am wanting to find if you guys know or had experience with an insurance company/plan that covers cataract surgery.

IF you know please let me know.. if you have had it and your insurance company covered it,, please let me know the costs or % of which it covered \

  1. If you need the surgery and don't have insuance coverage for it now then it is too late.  The answer would be no individual insurance company will cover it because it is pre existing!  Your question needs to be:

    "What company in Houston, Texas provides insurance that will cover cataract surgery?  And how can I or my spouse get hired on?"


  2. Cataract surgery is generally considered a medical service and generally a standard benefit on most medical plans.

    As far as what percentage a plan would cover, that would simply depend upon the medical benefits for the plan.  Whatever the outpatient surgery benefit level on the plan is...whether that's 80%, 90%, etc.

    If you already have an insurer, call them to ask what your outpatient surgery/cataract benefits are.

  3. Most plans will cover cataract surgery. The problem is they will all consider it as a pre-existing condition and will either not cover the surgery or, more likely, will decline to accept you. Your only option would be a group policy through an employer which will cover it after a waiting period.
