  1. There is no way that you can have an all-round rod. Each discipline of sea fishing require various techniques and differing strengths. You can't use a light spinning rod for wrecking for conger eel, nor would a heavy boat rod be suitable for beach casting.

At the least you need 2 maybe 3 rods.

A beachcaster - 12ft 5-6oz casting weight - Good enough for pier work too

    A boat rod - 6-7ft 20-30lb class

I would go for a lighter rod too like a 2lb test curve carp rod for pier work, light estuary, spinning and float fishing.

Don't forget that you will need the reels to accompany these rods too.

  2. depnds on what fishing you do Sea course fly ?

  3. Beachcaster will serve you for pier, beach and boat fishing.

  4. You can't go wrong with an Ugly Stik.  They have many different types of rods for all different kinds of fishing.  I'd get a 6' medium/light action rod for all around fishing.  You can't go wrong just starting out.  Equip that with an affordable Shimano reel, and you are ready to fish.

But then again, I have a different rod and reel set up for each type of fishing I do.

    Good Luck!  Happy Fishing.

  5. ugly stick and daiwa

  6. well there are a lot of rods for things fly rods?? freshwater rods berkley ultralight, deep seep shakspeeres ugly stick and any other kinds of fishing????

  7. There is NO such thing as a rod that is good for EVERYTHING.

point of fact     you can't use a rod designed for small pan fish & expect to catch a 300# shark on it

  8. It seems you're in the UK, try the greys Apollo M2, great for rough ground fishing, add either  a Penn 525 mag or an abu 7000 and you've got a great combo.
