Question:

Do you know of any fun restaurant/lounge type places in the San Francisco/Peninsula area?

I'm turning 21 in less than 3 weeks, and my friends keep asking me what I want to do for my birthday. I'm not a club type of person, but I'd love to go to a nice, chill restaurant with a lounge type feel (and an endless amount of drinks!).

I've pretty much checked out all the restaurants & lounge places in San Francisco -- from posts similar to this and google -- and none of them seem to be what I'm looking for (not to say they are bad or anything). I'd like for it to be somewhat inexpensive, but I'm willing to look at whatever.

Thanks ahead of time. ;)

  2. Hayes Valley is a good place for a lounge crawl.

Jade on Gough at Fulton, lounge with a waterfall cascading down from street level.  Small plates.

Absinthe Hayes at Gough good food and drink in a French style bistro.

Sugar a lounge with no food after happy hour.

Hays Street Grill 320 Hayes at Gough. Fresh fish shines at this neighborhood favorite. They specialize in grilling fish and then serving it with your choice of sauces that only enhance the taste of the fish and shellfish.

Or explore the Fillmore, the jazz district, once again.  Within walking distance of the Fillmore - big name bands!

Rasellas, Yoshi's, 1300, and the Boom Boom Room.  R&B, Funk, Jazz, Blues.  Ethieopian,  Japanese, California Cuisine, no kitchen.  All are located on Fillmore street near Geary, and all great fun!

  6. For a mature crowd without teenybopper mentality, try the club at the Foster City Crowne Plaza Hotel.  Not sure what the name is since it's been a while for me there, but they have a back section that they can block off for your guests that is in plain view of the dance floor and you can experience how it feels to be a club VIP.  They also have food available if you want to have catering of appetizers for your guests as well.

They have great security, inside the club and out and tons of parking, so you'll definitely be safe.  Happy birthday!

  7. i would say just go to the wharf area and hit up those small places on the pier or along the embarcadero!

  8. medjool restaurant
