Question:

Do you know of anything that can prepare me for volleyball conditioning?

I played on my high school team last season, but I didn't condition with them during the summer. I'm not sure what goes on, but I know it won't be easy. I'm not in the best of shape either. What should I do to prepare myself?

  1. If it is any thing like our conditioning drills, then you need to be prepared to be really sore. If I were you I would stay in shape. Like really in shape. I would work out every day. especially your leg muscles and arm muscles. We also worked on jump serving, so my back got really sore. So I hope this helps a lot!

  2. try getting into plyometrics or just do lunges.

  3. RUN UP AND DOWN STAIRS!!!!! IT WORKS THE BEST!!!

  4. yeah um i just want to say to that guy down there.Danny M.that your completely wrong! vo0lleyball does involve conditioning and its one of the hardest sports to learn..i hate it when people think volleyball is an easy sport..cause its not!!

  5. wall sits and wall jumps will help running lifting weights endurance and cardio work is always good

  6. I have never prepared for volleyball myself.  I have played for fun though and I would have to see you are going to need endurance and leg strenghth.  I would do a lot of running and jogging.  Maybe do a little weight lifting to strengthen your arms and upper body too.  I would concentrate on running and or jogging though.

  7. yeah conditioning is a pain in the butt, but it really helps.  Work on staying low / shuffling, i would go lift weights too.  Do things like squats, bench press, leg press, and some lat pull downs.  Work on abs, and start on footwork- you can jump rope or set up cones and practice shuffling around them and jumping over them.  Start sprints (dive sprints if you were taught) and get used to them, I'm sure you'll see them (and have already) all season.  Not to scare you or anything.... it's a lot of work but it really and truly pays off.  Just give it your all once it starts, and you'll get through it.  Good luck!

  8. Take private lessons

  9. Jump Training, Agility training, Speed workouts, and Endurance training. If you don't know what those are look them up. And contact your coach for ideas. It is her job to help you be the best athlete you can be.

  10. I too have gone into a vball season without being in shape. One of the best things you can do to show yourself off to your coach is always hitting the floor and finishing first in all running drills. Whats most important in vball is not the stamina but rather quick feet. Work on exercises that will help you gain faster quick twitch muscles. I suggest working on putting two cones 15 feet from each other, getting in a recieving stance and shuffling side to side as fast as you can while facing forward.

  11. Volleyball does not require conditioning. You share a 900 square foot box with 6 other people

  12. run a mile every day and work on your upper body muscle
