Question:

Do you know of positive-minded cities?

I've been a student in Ithaca, NY for a while. It's a tight-knit very activist-based community, BUT...I find that people focus on the negatives rather than positives. Example: instead of being pro-peace, they focus on anti-war. I'm a fan of "The Secret" and of creating your own reality and these people in this town are bringing me down. Anyone recommend a more positive (and liberal) place to be?

  1. I'm afraid you'll need to move to a much more conservative locale to find people with positive outlooks.

  2. I moved to Ithaca once upon a time ago because I thought it was a great place for me. Artsy, liberal, etc... I left Ithaca with the same type of complaints you have, too!

Perhaps, if you'd like to stay in Ithaca, you could start your own organization that has your preferred focuses? You can post fliers around TC3, Cornell, and IC and talk to your friends about your ideas and focus. Never know - you may end up with a huge group! There's obviously some people fed up with I-town's negativity...

In NY, you're going to be hard-pressed to find a more liberal city other than in the NYC area.

Try looking online for groups that you're interested in associating with, and create a list of the areas that have the most groups that your views are in-line with.

    Best of luck.

  3. Um. Well I live in Canada, near the GTA (greater toronto area) and I think we're mostly about accepting people and cultures and well Canada is known as the Pro-Peace country right? Could just be my point-of-view though.
