  1. if you save the music "in fixed form" (on paper, save a file, etc.) then it is automatically copyright.

really dude, read the links I gave you 5 minutes ago.

  2. copyright.org

    http://www.musicpowers.com/copyrights.ht...

  3. Yes, I know lots of them.

Have you written down or recorded an original song?  Then according to US law, you have copyrighted music.

    Now, go here

    http://www.copyright.gov/

and learn how easy it is to register your copyright with the govenrment.

  4. How to copyright songs:

In all of Europe and the US, copyright exists the moment you make something original, so you don't need to treat copyright like a patent.

The problem is when someone rips you off and then you have to prove that the copyright was yours and not someone elses. People used to mail themselves a copy of the song and leave it unopened, but that wouldn't work now as it's too easy to forge the postmark.

The best way to get copyright to a song or to copyright a song is to upload them to a special webpage where they fingerprint them and record the time you uploaded. This means that you have an independent record showing when you made it. No one will be able to argue with that! :)

I use a service called http://www.provemycopyright.com because you get 1Gb of space to upload lots of songs. You can also use this service to copyright song lyrics. As protection, copyright should be all you need.

    Hope it helps

  5. The quickest and easiest way to prove you have copyrighted  music is to record a song, put a copy on any medium you like (tape/CD/mp3 on a floppy disk...), put it in an envelope, seal the envelope, and post it to yourself, and get it done by registered post. DON'T open it when it arrives. If ever you have to prove that you are a copyright owner, then you can take the sealed envelope to court with you, along with the receipt for the registered post. But as soon as you write the music, you have copyrighted it. (Note: I have answered the question I think you wanted to ask. The actual correct answer to the question you asked is "yes".)
