Two of my friends were in one a week ago. The driver died on impact and the passenger was left with broken ribs and head trauma. How many people do you know that have been in a motorcycle accident? Was it as horrifying as my last week has been?

  1. Me.

  2. My brother was in a motorcycle accident.  He ended up with nothing more than a scraped knee and elbow, nothing major.  At the time I watched it happen though, it was the most frightening thing I'd ever seen.

  3. yes, some lived some died.

i like how the guy above blames the kid on the tractor for pulling out in front of him .......forget the fact he was doing 100+ mph..........idiot.....

  4. I had a front tire blow out at 135, had a County Cop not see me on an EX-cop bike and ran me into a guard rail.

Be ran off the road by an old man in a pick up, had to shoot his rear tire to get his attention.

Got ran into, and over a guardrail by a drunk on a pickup.

Ain't dead yet, wear proper riding gear EVERY TIME I ride, ride all year round.  Have a 200 mile run today.

Sorry to hear about your friends. We keep tellin kids not to squid around on sports bike, they still don't listen

oh yeah, I only wore a full face on the track, and have managed to not get my mellon cracked once yet.

  5. Motorcycles are inherently dangerous. I've been riding for 42 years, and yes, I know many (including myself) who have been in some bad accidents. I have lost some really good friends and brothers in accidents, including  a member of our club on May 5th of this year. 185 of us  rode on a 150 mile club ride and stopped for lunch. After lunch, my friend, with his wife on the back of his 2007 Harley were going up the 2 lane highway at 65mph when an 89 year old woman turned left directly in their path. He was able to crawl over to his wife, pull her into his arms, and then he died. His wife finally left the hospital for home 2 weeks ago. I still haven't gotten over Deans death, and a memorial ride on July 27th, in his honor, may help. We expect over 1000 riders to take part. Later that same day, we will hold our annual "riders in the sky" ride to a private destination where we have a placard in a tree with the names of our fallen brothers. we are adding Dean's name this year. Time does heal,  but some deaths take more time than others. As long as we remember our friends, they truly live forever, even if only in our hearts.

    Ride safe

  6. yeah i knew alot of people who where in motorcycle accidents......

key word is knew, people driving cars do not know how to share the roads with bikes its getting too dangerous to own a bike lately , at least in my area

  7. I've wrecked, and i only got a minor cut on my side...

my friend wrecked, and broke his tibia

  8. sunday at dusk i hit a deer at 70mph and skidded on the blacktop.  about ready to chew my cast off my arm today from itchy road rash under it that i can't get to

i got off very lucky, will be riding in about 2 weeks again... bike didn't fair so well

  9. A friend of mine was in one a few weeks ago.  He was making a left hand turn on an advanced green at an intersection and a car in the opposing lanes made a right hand turn ( the light was still red for the car ) right into my friend.  There was some bruising and the bike suffered some damage but his speed wasn't that fast luckily so all things considering, he came out of it relatively unscathed.

  10. Yeah me. Not that horrifying as I am still riding a motorcycle. I broke my elbow off and 9 ribs. Elbow is fixed and ribs are healed.

  11. me  & more friends than i can  count lost  loads to the idiots in cars it does not get more horrifying than  seeing your best mates brains  in side his helmet,

but thats life & they would not like  me to stop riding because of what happend to them,

  12. About half a dozen, including me.

I'm still alive, walking and riding so they can't have been that bad.

  13. Yeah,Me.wasn't too bad,Pelvis and Clavicle. It was a very fast accident,100+mph,some kid pulled out on me in a tractor and drove off.

  14. I know of many people who have been killed on bikes. And several who have lived over head on accidents on bikes.

It's all up to God, if they live.

  15. My wifes brother died in a motorcycle accident whilst on holiday in Falaraki, Greece.

  16. A cop a few years ago got hit by a drunk driver, he's okay now but he was pretty banged up.

This year a cop was killed when he pulled his HD out in front of a oncoming truck.

  17. Yes, I went down at 50 avoiding a "pull out in front of" surprise. If you are going down do it on a Gold Wing, damage wasn't too bad.  I was dressed to crash and made it through unscathed after rolling countless times.I didnt get run over fortunately.  It wasn't much fun. Wear a helmet, gloves, jacket and boots always. It wouldn't hurt to wear leg protection either.

  18. I have been in two with minor road rash - no broken bones - got a nasty MRSA infection in my knee from one of them which I almost lost my leg too.  Wearing safety equipment will reduce the potential for injury in most accidents.

Snoop - lost a nipple????  Freekin' Ouch!

  19. I've been in many and have seen some good friends{others} killed during a bike wreck. MOST of the time{not all ways} it is because of a stupid mistake or they let their ego's get the best of the situation. It amazes me at how fingers start pointing in any accident instead of taking responsibility for personal actions.

  20. So they hit a car hard enough to kill the car driver? Motorcyclists RIDE, girlie.

It's a shame that the FULL FACE HELMET and fully armored gear they were wearing didn't protect them enough.  Too bad the MSF course the pilot took years ago to make him/her into a well-honed rider prepared for anything must not have been worth the money.  A downright pity that well-maintained tires failed to grip properly while riding below the posted speed limit, too.

Unless, of course, they weren't wearing FULL GEAR.  The stuff works, people; why do you think racers crash all the time and walk away with little more than bruised egos?

Perhaps some details would clue us in on who was really at fault?  I admit to pushing my limits more often than not, but I WILL NOT take a chance if it might mean my life.

I've heard all the boo-hoo stories of a Friend Who Crashed or Died from many people, and WITHOUT EXCEPTION the rider was doing something they shouldn't have; excessive speed, no gear, unskilled rider, showing off, riding over their heads, drinking, etc.

I am sorry for your loss, but I have yet to hear of a TRUE story where the cyclist did EVERYTHING right and still died.

  21. Myself, several friends and family members have been involved in bike wrecks over the years.  Everything ranging from "get back up and brush the dust off", to one friend with a crippled right leg now, and another (while in high school) losing his life.

When someone you know loses a life, that is hard enough, to have them taken away unexpectedly, when they are out doing something they enjoy, is even worse. It's certainly okay to mourn your losses, but try not to dwell on it and let fear take over your life.

  22. I was in an accident years ago, and now doctors inform me as a result I have bone spurs in my shoulders and arthritis. Not too bad, all things considered.
