It is one of those massive countires of Asia. I imagine a lot of hard core travellers visit this area because it is a non-touristy area.

Most people would find it difficult to locate it on a map because there is so many stans in this part of the world. The area probably gets its name from the tribe living in the area called Uzbeks?

It's one of the former Soviet republics in Asia. Its capital is Tashkent.
