Hello, I'm doing a project for my driving school, and I've got to interview drivers.

My first question is:

How do you respond to skids?

And if you know the correct way to respond to a skid?

And what do you say about braking during a skid?

Can you plz put in your age, gender, type of car, years of driving experience plz

thanks!

  1. 40 yr old   male

30 yrs driving experience with all types of cars and trucks

Steer in the same direction of the skid    dont over steer   remain calm and steer in the direction of the skid until you regain control of the vehicle. It is not a good idea to apply brakes they will do no good till you regain control

  2. 1. Relax and dont panic.

    2. As soon as you feel that you are starting to skid, before it is out of control, you will need to correct slightly your steering to go against the turn. So if you feel you are turning left too much, rectify your trajectory going straight or slightly right.

    3. Right as you start to make direction modifications press on the gas to shift the weight of the car to the drive wheels.  By accelerating you are bringing the weight of the acceleration to those wheels which will gain new grip.

    4. Dont use the brake.........

    5. The steering and weight shift should get you back on track.

  4. I was always taught "Don't brake at a skid but drive into it"

It has worked on ice and snow for me (rear wheel drive cars).
