Lightning keeps plants alive. The intense heat of lightning forces nitrogen in the air to mix with oxygen, forming nitrogen oxides that are soluble in water and fall to the ground in rain. Plants need nitrates to survive, so without lightning, plants could not live.

  3. no......i dont think sooooo..if it is so..the place where there is no lightening should not have plants...according to my knowledge i think it is some bacteria that fixes nitrogen into the soil..and it is true that lightening helps the plants to get their nitrates..to some extent

  13. No, I did not know that, but I highly doubt it. Our indoor, potted plants have been growing just fine with healthy signs, without lightning. Most of the plants' nitrogen and nitrates are obtained through special types of bacteria that break them down and release them into the soil.

  16. I had read about this  phenomenon in natural nitrogen fixation

    which helps to form nitrates essential for plants in soil but nitrifying bacteria can do the same thing I suppose. Anyway thanks for the information.

  21. captain anil here i caught u dear it's not lightning it needs high tempreature agree , however some bacteria  produced by bacterial action in the soil and by high temperature combustion.
