Do you know what I just can't stand about these kids in my class??

Yesterday, I've studied 8 hours (for real) for my world history test (i'm in optional summer school), and when I took it today, I'm sure I did well on many questions, but when I was heading towards the end, these students kept distracting me (indirectly), as I always take the longest time on tests..

We have a really loud class, and as hard as the teacher tries, there are always people giggling and whispering, making it extremely difficult for me to concentrate (especially this one extremely annoying freshman- probably a 3rd grader is more mature than him)

i haven't gotton the test back yet, but even if i get an A+ (although i feel like i did so much worse because i couldn't concentrate), i feel so annoyed at these kids, whispering as if i don't even care about the test.

  1. This isn't really a question, but I'll answer it anyway.

You won't be able to make other people have good manners, you can only control your own manners, and how you react to other people's bad manners.  In this instance, just get yourself some earplugs to wear to class if noises disrupt you so much.

  2. learn the art of zen!

  3. I would ask the teacher to be placed in the front of the room away from the normally louder kids. I would also ask about taking the test at another time. Honestly if one of my students was truly that concerned with their grades, I would do all I could to help them out. Seriously. Tell your teacher, your parents, your principle, or anyone else you think will listen! Thank God someone is trying to learn!!! Heck if you give me the number I will call them myself!

Most kids (like those mentioned) don't really care. When there is someone who does, they should be rewarded or at VERY least helped so they can do their best. *hugs* Hope things work out. PLEASE don't give up. When these whispering goof-balls are waiting tables and you are in college you can breath a sigh of relief. But please don't throw away your education because of them. PLEASE talk to other adults and let them know. I'm sure someone will make something happen to help you. PLEASE!!!

  4. I would suggest having tests at the end of class. That way when people are done, they can go home.  This doesn't work during normal high school, but in college, this method actually works quite well.  I taught biology lab, and I hated giving quizzes at the beginning of the lecture.
