What car # is this????

This # had a spot in history in 1979....it was hot!

But after a few sponsor and driver changes....it was just playing the game and not really competing.

Some big names have driven this # over the years as well some not so big names.

It was an Oldsmobile in the late 80's and early 90's before switching to Ford. It's then current driver was a fan favorite but he just could never score a win.

One of it's sponsors in the mid 90's made several people happy.

But by the end of the 90's lack of funding made this # a coward because of it's color.

But that changed when a legend brought in a new team and secured the rights to the #....his young gun really flowed thru the turns and was easy on his engine mainly because of the sponsor.

The car went on to get a few wins....it's most important coming at Rockingham...when this team needed it most.

The # has had limited success in the past few seasons but still is considered to be a contender (Well maybe not this year) but there is always 2009! What # am I talking about????

  1. It's the 1 car.  Man i hate being late when i actually know the answer.

Just a question Jeff c. what time do you usually post these. That way i can be ready and waiting. It's like a nascar game show.

  2. the #1 car

    Jeff C-

    these are really fun!

    keep em' coming!   :)

  3. 1

Young driver is Steve Park and sponsor Pennzoil kept the motor running smoothly

Park won at Rockingham after Dale died the week before

Martin Truex Jr. had a win but is falling from contention but he will be back next year.

  4. 14?

I've never answred these because I suck at them!!

    :)

  5. Ok...well Winter I am not all that good either though I have been right twice.

I was going to say the #24 just on the last paragraph alone...and he was a young gun...but he drives a chevy not a ford.  it has to be a ford.  Soo.....my guess is..the #17.

i think because Matt Kenseth has been drilled into our brains all day. ROFL

  6. 1- steve ark won rockingham and martin truex jr has had success with this car

  7. My guess is the #43. WTH, Petty never drove a Olds I dont think. Must be time for bed.

  8. I want to say #1. The Game was UNO, It was a Skoal Classic Olds in the 80's- 90's. Steve Park drove the Pennzoil Chevy owned by Sr. and won at the Rock right after Earnhardt died. Right?

Edit: The late nineties saw the car sponsored by R&L Carriers. The car was yellow and green. Richard Jackson owned the number/team. Rick Mast was the winless driver. I saw him flip at Talladega I think in 90 or 91. These are great, Jeff. Keep on!

  9. 1

  10. 1979 Cale Yarborough #11

#11 Car has been driven by Yarborough, Waltrip, Labonte, Geoff Bodine, Bill Elliot, Brett Bodine, Craven, Yeley, Leffler, Hamlin

Mid 90's sponsor--> Hooters with Brett Bodine?

ahh this sounds wrong, someone will come along and get it right.
