  7. Jovian

Flavius Claudius Iovianus, anglicized as Jovian, (c. 332 - February 17, 364) was a soldier elected Roman Emperor . He served a very brief term and died in his tent from carbon monoxide poisoning.

I doubt he would give you that name because of this person.

Normal people will name their children from an emotional standpoint, not history.  Who cares about this Roman emperor?

My best guess is that someone named Jovian meant something to him, someone he knew in his past, someone your mother never knew,  and this person has done him a favor, or or is one he admired.  In his mind he had promised to name his child after this person, to immortalize their friendship, or in gratitude.

Or the pretty girl in his office mentioned in passing "If I had a kid myself, I would name him or her Jovian, it is neither boy nor girl and the sound flows softly, gently on your tongue, like cascading waterfall "

"Sold ! " Your dad said.
