  1. Most answers are very correct. Keep in mind that people qualify based on income and family size. There's a LONG wait list for Section 8. For example in San Diego, CA, the list is between 3-6 years. In the mean time I suggested to many of my former clients to apply to affordable housing or the 'bond program'. Many landlords (mostly apartments) section off a section of units and rent them out to low income families. There's also a waiting list for these apartments but the list is way shorter than Section 8.

If you apply for section 8 you must report any changes in income or family size.

    Good luck!

  2. what...like in the army? The only time I've heard of a "Section 8" is on the TV show MASH...a discharge from the army for being declared legally insane. I'm not sure what your question is asking...DETAILS PLEASE!!!! Other people may not understand the question either.

  3. It's a government welfare type program for housing.  You get housing vouchers to help pay for rent.  I don't know how it is in other places, but I have an ex-friend (we don't talk much anymore) who got her daughter taken away because she could not provide a stable home for her that has been on the waiting list to receive section 8 vouchers for the last 19 months, and can't get her daughter back until she gets them and secures housing.  But we're in California and the public assistance program here is very strained.  I believe you have to be well below the poverty line to receive section 8 housing.

  4. gov't help for rent assistance

  5. Section 8 is a US govt housing program where they give a low income person a voucher to pay for most of their rent based on their income. The landlord accepts the voucher and the person pays a small amount on their own.

The problem is the wait list is over 3 years old. Ive been on it for 10 years in IL. President Bush is busy giving our money away in tax breaks to oil companies so their isnt enough money to house low income americans.. theyre is just no money left for these vouchers.

The wait list is ridiculous.. and somehow you never get one of these unless your a black single mother with tons of kids.

  6. Section 8 is a renters assistance program for women that can't afford the full rent or they pay for your rent in some cases. I think thats In PA. Im in PA and I hear about that in my state.

  7. Section 8 is a government program that helps low income families pay their rent. They  pay the landlord a portion of the rent and then the family pays the remainder. For more information you can go to this site: http://www.hud.gov/progdesc/voucher.cfm
