It's a Pentium II, I think with monitor. Are there any charities in Sydney I can donate it too. Will they pick it up?

  1. Pick your favourite charity or school and find out if they want a PC.  If it is too old/slow it won't be of much use even if it is free!

If it is too old you could donate the monitor and give the rest to a local PC store who could maybe salvage some parts (thereby reducing environmental waste).  If not reused, recycled or disposed of properly, computers, monitor and tonnes of disused equipment like it - described as "e-waste" - are a serious threat to the environment.

The main problem is that the lead and mercury can leak and escape into the environment.

Dell will recycle any brand computer.  Contact Dell Recycling on 1800 465 890 or email recycling_dell_au@dell.com

Make sure all your data is deleted.  For full details on how to do this see http://www.zdnet.com.au/jobs/resources/p...

  2. this computer i'm on came from greenpc (greenpc.com.au)

    brotherhood of st laurence melbourne

it's a great scheme but doesn't appear to operate in nsw

there are others i've heard who refurbish computers and provide them cheaply to disabled etc

try calling your brotherhood or other similar charity

  3. In Australia, you can find a great list of charities that will accept donated computers on the Our Community website.

It really depends on the charity whether or not they can pick up or not.
