Question:

Do you know where I can find a dog-proof cat feeder?

I'm trying to find a dog-proof cat feeder that operates by the cat pressing a lever to uncover the feeding bowl. I used to have one of these a few years ago but I can't find it at any pet stores now. It was simple and made of plastic, cost less than $20.

I've found a few other novel solutions online-- a beautiful wood box from Orvis that the cat can get into but the dog can't (over $300 after shipping), and a special door from Neko for a cat carrier that opens when it recognizes the cat's electronic collar (over $200 and ugly).

Does anyone know where I can find the simple solution that I'm looking for? Thanks a million!

  1. I would put the cat's dish up high where the dog can't get to it.  Maybe in another room where it recognizes that's where the food is, so it won't be apt to jump on the kitchen counter tops.

This is what I've done whenever a dog is in the house, as dogs will eat everything in sight where cats will generally eat throughout the day.

    Hope this helps..

PS  Those other items just don't work well.

  2. I put my cat's food dishes in the hall closet on the shelf.

  3. Put your cat's food in a place where she can jump up and get it, and the dog can't!
