Of course people know and it is easy enough to find out with a little research. Ted Turner and Rupert Murdoch are two names that spring to mind. Turner started CNN though I'm not sure if he is still involved.

I am not sure if you are implying that the mainstream news media are all conspiring somehow but that is not the case. It is extremely competitive and some people consider the media as being biased. The funny thing is some say there is a left wing monopoly while others see a conservative conspiracy.

There is a disturbing trend towards too much concentration of news media in too few hands in efforts to "consolidate". In the end we are all responsible for holding the media accountable.

Plenty of different corporations. And they are big ones, such as Disney's ownership of ABC.

MSNBC is Microsoft together with National Broadcasting Corp. (NBC). I have no faith in their Internet broadcasts. 'Synergy' is a scary word.
